What's Next?
Old Market
Well from the three interviews that I participated in, I took back that these customers that were highly interested in my product don't believe that a sneaker line is the way to go. They told me that what I should be focusing on is not to create a brand new product such as sneakers but instead focus on creating new designs for my clothing line. They also thought that I should focus on my idea of the Clothing truck. They really liked this idea and all three of my interviewees seemed interested in seeing it come to fruition.
These interviews kind of hurt my ego so to speak because I really believed in my innovative design of a sneaker line. I felt like my sneaker line idea could've exploded and become more successful than my clothing line. Even though the first half of these interview did't go so well, the second part seemed much more positive and gave me motivation towards focusing on the aspects of my concept that are already put in place.
New Market
For my "New Market" I decided to visit the lower income community of Gainesville. My assumptions going into these interviews were that this market would not cling on to my product because the pricing that I have set in place. The feedback I received was the exact opposite! The three interviewees loved my product. They loved that it was a clothing line. I completely understood that their one concern was that the pricing was too high. This was something that I would definitely keep in mind.
Something that stuck with me was the amount of children I observed running around in tattered clothes as I conducted my interviews. This inspired me to possibly make my next product a children's clothing line. I have always been someone who has been good with kids and this concept allows me to give back to the kids that don't have as much.

I am sure that your ego will recover. However, the purpose of these interviews is to provide feedback from your potential customers as to what they want. The clothing truck sounds like an interesting concept. One that I am not familiar with. If you could be a success in your new market of providing clothing for children in the lower income market, this could be an advantage in other markets as well. And, who knows, If your children s clothing line and the clothing truck are a success, someday you may have the resources to complement your clothing line with a matching line of sneakers.

I love your concept because I also want to do work to fix the inequalities in Gainesville, especially in education, healthcare and economics. The fact that you would want to provide clothes is very cool, but is there a more sustainable way to carry that out, to encourage people in Gainesville to create their own clothing lines and to become entrepreneurs.

I think that a clothing truck is a super unique idea. However, how would you market this? Since you would be so limited in what you can carry, what would you tell customers to make them want to travel to your location? If you were to drive to people, how would you cover gas expenses? I like the concept and I would love to see more of it. I think we both want to target everyone, not just a single demographic, which is cool. I would hate to exclude anyone from me services. Thanks, and can you please check out my post?

Hey Brandon,
ReplyDeleteremember this is just feedback from potential customers. I believe you should still design shoes for the future but a great starting point for your venture would be to start out with the clothing line and focus on the online marketing aspect of it. No matter what others tell you, believe in the why behind your passion. Only you can understand that and if you are able to communicate and express it in your designs your venture will prosper and then you can go into the more expensive parts of your venture. definitely interested to see if you have any designs made already! check out my post https://vincityblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/03/week-12-whats-next/
